All about spiders in the world

White Tip Spider

The first spider I am going to talk about is the white tip spider. The white tip is very dangerous. It lives anywhere it likes. It can live under your bed or even in your car so be careful about the white tip. The place they like the best is between cracks in bricks and holes. They are really nasty in the bricks because they soften the cement in the house and it makes the soil under the house go solid. If it goes solid something goes wrong. It starts to collapse then it would be a lot of mess. So that is it for that one.

Tarantula

The tarantula has a secret weapon. Where its back is, its hairs are its secret weapon. Its legs scratch its back then its hair comes everywhere. If it gets in its prey’s eyes the prey goes blind, then the spider would give it a quick dose of venom. Then the prey falls to the ground. Plop! It is down on the ground dead and the tarantula comes down to get to the prey so it can clean it off to eat for later. The eating is a feast for the spider.

The tarantula is like a trapdoor spider. They can grow as big as a dinner plate and that is about 30cm long so that is pretty long for a spider. They can live for 100 years of life. The tarantula comes in different colours and sizes. One spider in one egg only comes out. That is true because a sort of tarantula does that. It lays one egg and then it hatches. The tarantula is that big it is bigger than your hat. It is as big as two hats in one. It can be used to being pushed around and being slaved. The spider kills the mum and runs away then it digs a really tricky hole to hide in so prey come down. It can get the prey and eat the prey before the next one comes over into the secret hole where nothing can see it and it gets stuck in it.

Now let's get going to another spider...

Black Widow

The black Wwdow is a really venomous spider. It has a big red triangle and another one in front of that one. That is how you know what kind of spider it is so keep away from the black widow. The black widow make s different web to any other spider. It makes his web strong, strong as nearly a wooden house. They get a lot of food everyday for that kind of spider. The black widow is as venomous as six cobras in one. It gives out a really bad pain. It kills you - whatever you do you can’t live. You die in six minutes then you die, so that’s it for that one.

Huntsman

The huntsman is not that dangerous. They can only make you sick. They’re actually good climbers. They climb up one tree and then climb up another tree then it finds a good barky tree to make a new home to go to bed. Then they find another home to live at. Then it goes on for months and months, looking for a girl. After that they mate then the eggs come out. Then the mum kills the dad then goes away. It doesn’t take the eggs. It just runs away by itself then it dies  slowly. That is what the lady does. It dies somewhere else.

The eggs hatch six weeks after that. When the parents die the eggs hatch and a hundred come out. The first thing they do is run. They run everywhere then all the spiders split up. Some stay there and some go on to a new tree then they start a new life again, then again, again and again. It happens to thousands of spiders . Even someone out there is like that but different so that is it for that one.

Bird-Eating Spider

The bird-eating spider is a very venomous spider. Once my dad went to a party at his mate’s house then his mate came out and gave him a bird-eating spider and he was walking around the house with the bird-eating spider in his hands. Lucky it did not bite him. Then after that he took it home and fed it a dead baby bird. Then after that we put it into a box and fixed up the tank to put the bird-eating spider in. It is a massive tank to run around in. It is in my room. The tank is that mad because the spider sometimes looked at me, but last week it died.

We cleaned the tank out, checked it didn’t have eggs and it didn’t have any and after that we fixed it again. We put one gecko in there, not more bird-eating spiders. So that is that for that one.

Redback

The redback is a really! really! venomous spider. It can kill seventeen people in one bite so don’t get too close to a redback. They have only 60 bottles of juice so only 60 people die from redbacks. After they kill 60 people they die . There is probably 100,000 left in the world so they aren’t really extinct, so there is a pretty lot of redbacks left in the world. So they can probably live for another 200,000 years. So there could be more than 100,000 redback spiders in the world. So they could live for 6,000,000 years. They will probably never be extinct because they only come out at night.

If you’re lucky you can see the redback in action. They are the best at watching carefully for food. Sometimes they get heaps of big food like big beetles and sometimes baby bats. So that is it for that one.

Waterspider

The waterspider is the biggest spider in the world. They grow up to one metre long. That one is the biggest of all spiders in the world and they are the weirdest. They are pink and they have this weird point at the front and it looks like a crab. That is the head of it. They live in the coldest waters. They are really fascinating to watch. Go to waterspiders. Another website shows really mad videos to watch of waterspiders. They are that mad you would say, “What is that?”

If it is cold the waterspider could kill you. They have billions in the world. They are the best spider to watch. In the water they have big feet like crabs, too, so please go and see the website of it because it doesn’t stay on there forever. The waterspider swims like an octopus. It flaps its eight legs up and down. It moves 1,000 miles in one day so they are really fascinating. They never killed anybody because no one goes near them.

How do we get the photos or videos of them? We have waterproof video recorders and cameras. That is how we get that website. We lose 1,000 video cameras each year and that is thousands of dollars. That is that for that one.

Funnelweb

The funnelweb spider is really venomous. They can kill 20 people in one bite. They can run throughout New South Wales because if they crawl in our shoes and kill us we all die and you don’t want to die, do you? So put your shoes up high because Penrith to Sydney, that is where they live - and probably 10,000 people get bitten by one each year. That is a lot, my golly! People should tell their kids but if you didn’t know that you know now. They are really venomous spiders.

Listen up! You have to help us. If you don’t all of NSW could get wiped out. Each day probably a couple of people in NSW get bitten by a funnel web spider so you should do something about it. There are too many funnelweb spiders out there so you can help us because this is a powerful spider. We can’t do anything about it so please help us. We are getting bitten every day because some people don’t know about them. That is it for that one.

Wolf Spider

The wolf spider is a spider that lives in the dirt. He softens the dirt up and that is how they make their home. They make it bigger each day for their food so they can eat it when they get hungry. So, when they get hungry, they eat something. How they get their food is: the food goes in the hole and the spider is in the hiding place, then when it  is at the bottom of the hole it goes back down to the bottom of the hole and they get, wrap it up then put some venom in it so it can rest. Then the bug goes bye, bye. It goes to sleep and the spider will never eat again for a whole month (if it is so big).

If it is little, it keeps trying to get bigger food to eat. When it goes to sleep the food melts into one. After  winter it melts back, but the bugs have grown so there are 60 bugs. It will last for 60 months. So that is it for that one for now.

Trap Door

The trap door is another spider that lives in the dirt. It stays in a hole and when something comes it strikes and it tries to get it. The spider can’t get seen because it has a lid on top of the hole. Then, when it hears the food, it will strike. When the lid is off it will hide in the hole. There is another hole and it is hiding too. It is stuck like a door to the dirt and, when the food is at the bottom of the hole, it comes out of the hole and it gets the food to eat. After that they go sleep for a long time and that is three years. Then after that it wakes up and it will try to get a lot of food to eat because it has slept for a long time. It will probably eat 60 bugs. It will look for food and eat it.

So that is it for that one. Really, that is it for the book.

Go back to Part 1. That is my other book about Snakes. Now I have also written about Lizards.
